Does the new Thunderbird on Android mobile email client support HTML in email signatures?

Thunderbird for Android (rebranded from K-9 Mail) does not currently support HTML email signatures.

As of the most recent stable release (v10, May 6, 2025), the signature editor on mobile is limited to plain‑text only, there is no checkbox or setting to enable HTML signatures, nor the ability to import from file like you can on the desktop version.

What’s the current status?

  • A long-standing feature request to support HTML signatures (including image/logo support) is actively being tracked on the Thunderbird Android GitHub, but has not yet been implemented.
  • A recent user report from February 2025 confirms there is still no option within “Manage identities” or elsewhere in the app to set HTML or image-based signatures.

Workarounds?

At the moment, there’s no built-in workaround in Thunderbird Android. Unlike Thunderbird desktop, which allows you to check “Use HTML” or attach a signature file, mobile lacks those features.

If HTML signatures are important for your workflow, you might consider temporary alternatives:

  • Watch the GitHub Issue #8841 for updates on planned HTML signature support in future versions.
